In my 25 years of being in the fish business, I have learned that when it comes to producing good quality fish, the handling, waste reduction, and the limitation of machinery is of upmost importance. We at Hólmasker, have kept this practice as a key pillar to our production of all our products. Now, after all these years, we notice that not only is this practice of handling our fish producing the highest quality of fish on the market, but also greatly reducing our CO2 footprint. Our people are the only ones who handle the fish that comes through our plant, requiring no external energy sources. With sustainability becoming an ever important topic in our society, we are proud to have been on a waste and energy reduction path since our beginnings.

Minimizing our Impact

Our fish are caught in Iceland, primarily from VSV Iceland, who live up to some of the most stringent sustainability requirements in the world.

We hand-cut every fillet to ensure that the strain on filets throughout the production process is minimized and the end-product is of higher quality.

With fish caught close to the shores of Iceland and our location close to Keflavik Airport, our supply chain is highly simplified.

Caught Sustainably in Iceland

At Hólmasker, we collaborate with VSV Iceland to ensure a consistent and reliable catch of high-quality fish. VSV Iceland is a leading Icelandic fishery, who only catch wild fish and who can guarantee sustainable and traceable fishing.
